Spatial Design 2 / Assignment 2

Assignment 2

To do:

Process 1:

I first created a questionnaire containing 24 questions about Huawei retail store space issues in a DOC document.

Feedback 1:

After Mr.zeon reviewed the questionnaire, he asked me to split the questions.

Process 2:

After I modified the questionnaire, I put the questions into a Google Form and asked my target users to complete it. Our goal was 30 questionnaires.

I made two user personas based on the questionnaire's results: Sun Xiao Chuan and Ding Zhen, who I developed virtually. These two personas have completely different levels of brand loyalty: Ding Zhen is a loyalist who fits the profile of a loyal user, while Sun Xiao Chuan is a critic who fits the profile of an ordinary consumer. According to my survey, these two groups often debate with each other online about Huawei products. Sun Xiao Chuan is poisonous and fits the profile of an ordinary consumer. According to my research, these two groups often debate with each other online about Huawei!

feedback 2:

It generally meets the requirements, but it still needs to add a little feeling of space design to make it more in line with the space.

After the change:

Process 3:

After completing the user persona, we need to continue to create the user journey map. I followed the 10 phases.

Feedback 3:

I need to change it. the second character's action can be changed to go and buy the product without the need to participate in the same activity as the first one

After the change:

Process 4:

Then I started to analyze my questionnaire

Huawei's retail space urgently needs a strong and unique "memory anchor" or "super symbol" to unify the brand narrative and stand out from many competitors. At the same time, the quality and narrative of basic design elements such as entrances, materials and furniture also need to be improved.

Process 5:

Combining all the research and user analysis, I finally conceived my functional art installation.

I first defined the emotional and conceptual tone for it. Emotionally, I wanted it to be resonance, calm, and wonder. Conceptually, it revolves around the three core words: connectivity, refraction, and collaboration.

The interactive installation, titled ‘Light Prisms’, acts as a social catalyst, inviting visitors to deconstruct and poetically reorganise light, ultimately creating a unique audio-visual experience generated by collective collaboration in real time in a space-time shelter full of synaesthesia.

Process 6:

I first created this model in Blender.

reflection:

Looking back on the entire Assignment 2 process, for me, it is not only a course assignment but also a journey from analyst to creator. Assignment 1 taught me how to "interpret" an existing space, while Assignment 2 posed a more challenging question to me: how to "create" a meaningful space experience for a brand and a specific user group from scratch. The only regret is that I am not good at drawing.
